Info for Ordeal Candidates

Congratulations on becoming a candidate for the Order of the Arrow and getting called out! Being selected by your peers as one who truly lives up to the Scout Oath and Law, is a great honor. Many opportunities await you, and Wenasa Quenhotan Lodge looks forward to having you as a new brother.

The next step in order to become a member of the OA is to complete your Ordeal at either the Fall or Spring Fellowship weekend.

Ordeal Candidate Information

The fee for the Ordeal is $35.00. This price covers meals, an event patch, a Lodge flap, a sash, a handbook, and your annual lodge membership fees.

Check-in is open from 5:30-7:30 PM Friday for Ordeal candidates at the Brownsea Island Pavilion. All candidates must be at the Trailblazer Pavilion at Ingersoll Scout Reservation (located at the bottom of the Dining Hall Hill) by 7:40 PM for the Pre-Ordeal Ceremony. 

Departure time from the Fellowship will be approximately 10:30 a.m. on Sunday. Ordeal candidates must be in attendance the entire weekend to become a member of the Order of the Arrow.

Following the Ordeal, there will be a New Member Orientation session, which will be an opportunity to meet Lodge Officers, learn more about the purpose of the Order of the Arrow within Scouting, become familiar with Wenasa Quenhotan Lodge, and find out ways that you can quickly become involved in the Order.

  • Old work clothes (wear upon arrival)
  • Sleeping bag
  • Ground cloth (large)
  • Poncho or Rain Suit
  • Work gloves
  • Flashlight
  • Spending money for OA Trading Post 
  • Insect Repellent
  • Sunscreen
  • Class “A” uniform and extra clothes for later in the weekend
  • Toiletries (towel, soap, etc.)
  • Tent for Saturday night (unless you already have sleeping arrangements coordinated with another Conclave participant)
