Each week of summer camp at Ingersoll Scout Reservation, the Order of the Arrow provides several program opportunities. Including:

  • Becoming a Brotherhood Member
  • Native American Drum and Dance
  • Ordeal Member Call-Out Ceremony
  • and more!

Become a Brotherhood Member

On Wednesday nights, there will be a Brotherhood ceremony for those who are eligible, both youth and adults. Candidates must be a current member of the lodge (paid annual dues of $13 for 2016) and have been an Ordeal member for at least ten months. Registration will take place at the ISR Trading Post during the week for $20. Candidates are strongly encouraged to prepare for this ceremony prior to summer camp. All candidates must report to the Dining Hall Patio by 4pm on Wednesday, where they will receive further instruction. Candidates will be able to participate in regular dinner. The ceremony will be complete around 9 or 10pm that night. For more Brotherhood information, visit the Path to Brotherhood page

Native American Pow-wow and Dance Demonstration

As a way of celebrating the great week at summer camp, the Order of the Arrow sponsors a Native American drum and dance demonstration on Friday Family Night beginning around 6:30pm. Various members from the Order of the Arrow and Venturing, B.S.A, will portray several different dance styles. Family members and campers are encouraged to participate during the program. This is an exciting way for Scouts to learn more about the modern Native American culture and receive info on how to become dancers themselves.

Call-out Ceremony

At the conclusion of Family Night festivities (around 8pm), immediately following the campfire and flag ceremony, the Order of the Arrow Call-Out Ceremony will take place. This Ceremony recognizes those Scouts and Scouters who have been elected by their peers as candidates for Order of the Arrow membership. In order to be called out, the troop/team must have properly filed their OA election results with the council office. Troops in the W.D. Boyce Council must complete an approved election by contacting their Chapter Chief by May 31, 2016. Out-Of-Council troops are allowed to participate in the Call-Out ceremony provided they submit their election results to the Summer Camp Chief. Scoutmasters will receive instructions on how to participate in the Call-Out ceremony at the Friday Leaders Meeting during their week of camp.

More Order of the Arrow activities will be taking place during the summer camp week, and will be announced upon arrival at camp. Be sure to check out the Trading Post for lodge membership renewal, OA merchandise, and more!
